Samba line dance

We dance this to Magalenha by Sergio Mendes
You can dance it to Ricky Martin’s Maria or any samba dance (4 count)

Free dancing at the beginning, raise arms over head, walk forward and back, shake hips, etc.
When you hear “He, he, he, he, he, he” get ready to start and start with the drums

Start with your left foot
Go forward 4
Point your right foot forward (on four)
Go back 4 starting with your right
Point your left foot back (on four)

Cross left foot over right
Bend at the knees
Point your right foot out to the right and touch

Cross right foot over left
Bend at the knees
Point your left foot out to the left and touch

Volta right for four counts (Volta is when you cross one foot directly in front of the other and shift
Volta left for four counts your weight between the two in a forward/backward motion)

You start over again right out of the volta left
You keep repeating the same steps but always turning to the left so you are facing another wall in the room

Circle dance appropriate for school

Start in a large circle, everyone facing in.
You can dance around in the circle, shake your hips, just sort of march, etc. until it gets to the words.

A mí - point to your chest with two thumbs
me gusta – index fingers to your dimples, smile, turn your hands forward for a happy gesture
bailar el ritmo vuelta – bend at the knees, fist your hands, move your hands in a circle left four times, swing your hips left four times along with your hands.
A ti – look at and point to someone else
Te gusta – as above
Bailar el ritmo vuelta – as above

A todos – gesture to everyone in the circle
Nos gusta – as above
Bailar el ritmo vuelta – as above

Baila – clap 2 times with the music
Baile ritmo vuelta – clap six times with the music

Con la mano mano – put right hand out to the right and move to the right two times
Con la otra mano - put left hand out to the left and move to the left two times

After each body parts section
Muevete - put your right arm out in front of you
ritmo – put your left arm out in front of you
Goza, goza – bend at the knees twice with the count of the song (looks like you’re doing deep knee bends with your arms out in front of you like a sleepwalker)
Turn to the right and repeat sequence
Muevete ritmo

Turn to the right and repeat sequence – now your back is to the inside of the circle

Turn to the right again – now you are facing into the circle once again

When the music starts we keep time by clapping and tapping our alternate feet.

Step 1: As soon as the words start we "slink" to the right twice.
Then we jump three times.
Then we slink left and jump three times.

Step 2: this time as we do the bird shuffle to the right we stick our head out and our hands up for two counts.
At the end of that move we do a turn.
Turn left and raise your outside (right) hand.
We repeat the bird shuffle to the left
and this time we end with a turn to the right,
raising our outside (left) hand.

Step 3: touch right elbow to left knee, stepping forward.
Touch left elbow to right knee, stepping forward.
Touch right elbow to left knee, stepping back.
Touch left elbow to right knee, stepping back.

Step 4: Bend at the waist, circle your hands.
Stand up straight, circle your hands.
(un) Reach up to the left, right hip out.
(deux)Reach up to the right, left hip out.
(trois)Reach down to the left, right hip out.
(quatre) Reach down to the right, left hip out.

Step 5: Clap hands up above head.
Clap hands down by knees.
Clap hands left.
Clap hands right.
Repeat and when you clap hands right the second time turn right so that you're facing the right wall.

Repeat steps 1 through 5, turning to the right at the end of each series.
